Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival 2018
The Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival will run from 13th-22nd July 2018 this year and it’s the biggest of it’s kind in Britain. The Scotsman Hotel highly recommend spending a few nights with us and sampling some of the 100’s of shows in a festival that just keeps getting bigger!
As the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival size has increased, so too has the talent and diversity of its acts, with international stars coming together with the very best in Scottish talent to create one of the most vibrant and multi-cultural of all Edinburgh’s festivals. Don’t forget that vital blues ingredient either: previous years have seen the legendary BB King strut his stuff in the capital.
With over 170 gigs the Festival spans the early days of jazz to the best on the current scene. The Blues programme crosses all the boundaries too: Southern blues, delta blues, Mississippi blues, Chicago blues, electric blues, acoustic blues; the Festival hosts American stars and all the best homegrown talent.
The Carnival – The opening weekend of the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival
The Edinburgh Festival Carnival takes place on the opening weekend of the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, with a parade of hundreds of performers from the top of the Mound down to West Princess Street Gardens for an afternoon of music, drumming, dance and acrobatics centred around the Ross Band Stand and other stages in the garden.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to line the streets all the way down the Mound for the procession and to pour into the Garden and Grassmarket for the afternoon performances.
Why not experiences some Jazz this July and join us at The Scotsman Hotel. We have an ideal location for soaking up the Jazz and Blues atmosphere just moments from our doorstep and our range of bedrooms and suites are ideal for relaxing and unwinding after a day of exploring the Festival…
